This is a progressive four year preparatory program for Dance Technique in our Ballet, Jazz, Modern, and Hip Hop programs. This program has a very strong ballet element, and focuses on all of the dance concepts. Dancers explore movement accompanied by many styles of music – classical, world, rock, and popular children’s songs. The instructor’s focus is to make the class fun, challenging, and rewarding. The technique in this class is based on the principals of early childhood and primary education, the Royal Academy of Dance ballet syllabus, and Creative Dance Technique developed by Dr. Anne Green Gilbert and Mary Joyce.
General Skills:
Dancers are introduced and begin to master the following specific skills which include elements of ballet, jazz and contemporary dance techniques:
* Turn out * Plie
* Releve * Retire
* Tendu *Positions of the feet turned out and parallel
* Point the toe * Flex the toe
* Spring Point * Gallop
* Skip * Leap
* March * Jump
* Hop * Pas de Shat in parallel/turned out
* Spin in retire * Jazz hands
* Step touch * Isolations
* Grape vine * Chasse
* Chasse ball change * Kick ball change
* Pivot Turn

- Learning class structure; working in a circle and in lines, coming across the floor in twos and threes
- Practicing a proper technique
- Practicing creative exercises
- Taking corrections
- Learning a dance for recital, and performing with little guidance from the instructor
